April is National Card and Letter Writing Month

When is the last time you received a card or letter from someone? Not one of the electronic variety? While emails and texts are great for instant communication, there’s just something special about receiving a good old-fashioned greeting in the mail. April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, so what better time to send a note to the special folks in your life to let them know you’re thinking of them? Think about the older people you may know who don’t have access to electronic communications–grandparents, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and neighbors. Perhaps they live alone or live in a nursing facility; what a delightful treat to get their mail and see a card or letter from you! This is an activity teens and younger children can be involved in as well. The recipient will treasure each handwritten card, letter, and note and will be able to read every one over and over again. Go ahead…make their day!

Put on your walking shoes…today is National Walking Day!

American Heart Association National Walking Day

April 2 is National Walking Day

It may be a rainy spring day here in New Jersey, but it’s still a great day to walk. Regardless where you live, walking is good for you and your older loved ones. By walking just 30 minutes a day, your body and mind will enjoy these health benefits:

  • Lowers risk of having a stroke or heart disease
  • Lowers risk of having osteoporosis
  • Lowers risk of obtaining certain cancers such as breast and colon
  • Increases happiness
  • Increases calorie burning to decrease your body weight
  • When walking with a companion, increases relationship bonds

Where will you walk today with your older parent, relative, neighbor, or friend? Take this opportunity to take them to the mall, grocery shopping, for a stroll in the local park, or around their neighborhood. Not only will you both be becoming healthier, but you’ll also be nurturing your relationship. Since loneliness is an issue for those living alone, a short walk will help boost their spirits in an otherwise lonely day.

To join walking clubs, track your activity, and learn more about National Walking Day, visit the American Heart Association’s website at

Titusville, NJ Home Health Care Review

We are happy to have recently received a home health care testimonial from the husband of one of our clients:

“You have built a fine organization and I am so glad you sent us such a great angel. She truly turned the tide. I left her with my wife and just ‘got out of the way.’ In just a little while I heard the two of them laughing and talking. Only an Angel could pull of that little miracle!”
