In a recent article in the online edition of the Huffington Post, writer Diana M. Raab discusses her experiences and challenges of long-distance caregiving for her aging parent. Her still active and independent 82-year-old mother lives 3000 miles away. Her mom, like most of us, want to stay in familiar surroundings as she ages, rather than move closer to her daughter. The National Institute on Aging has estimated that approximately 7 million adults in the U.S. consider themselves long-distance caregivers.
