Rebecca T: I am Visiting Angels. I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping somebody else. I mean, I feel like I get to go in people’s homes and kinda like be a hero.

Regina S: I am Visiting Angels. There’s a lot of people out there that just need a little extra care and sometimes they can’t get it. Their family has to work, and I can come in and fill that need.

John R: I am Visiting Angels. What I basically saw was an opportunity to to use my caring, and just my natural instinct to want to help other people, and get paid for it.

Kalinda T: I am Visiting Angels. Well, I was always attracted to my grandparents. I was always around them. Being around them, and just the way they cared for me…was just something that made me wanna give care back.”

Rebecca: I had been hearing Visiting Angels commercials on the radio and my husband said, ‘you know, honey, you can do that.’

Regina: The new friendships that you acquire—you get to know them, they get to know you. You walk in the door, they have a smile on their face. It makes my day!

John: Knowing that you’re there when they really need you…that’s the most rewarding part. When a person looks at you and recognizes you, even though you know that they are getting mentally disabled through a form of dementia, but you know they recognize you, and they care about you, and they know that you care about them.

Kalinda: To me, being a caregiver…you have to have that in you to care for another person. I feel like I’m just a caring person, period. If somebody wants something from me, I want to give it back to them. You have to have that. You know, you just want to care for somebody. Like, I’m a mother, I’m a single mother of two. So, I don’t know, it’s just in me to make sure that I take care of my babies and take care of myself. So, you know I want to give that to somebody else that they’re not getting it.

Regina: I brighten up their day, they have somebody to talk to. You can bring them something just to make…bring a little plant or something just to make their day.

John: They don’t have to be perfectly dressed or coiffed or articulate or the captain of industry anymore, but you care about them just because they’re not. You care about them because they’re there, because they’re a human being.

Rebecca: To me, life is so precious, and I think people are precious. And it’s a part of how I’m made to just want them to know that they’re valuable. And I feel like when I can give that dignity back to them, or say to them, ‘you know, it just does not bother me. Taking care of you is a privilege and I feel like I’m blessed to be able to help you.’

John: All I have to do is say, ‘how can I help you?’ and I’m making a difference in the world, and it feels rewarding.

Regina: It has to be compassion. If you don’t have the compassion, you might as well not be there. That’s what you need.

Rebecca: I think it’s how I’m wired. I am very sympathetic and empathetic.

Kalinda: It’s just in me. It’s in my heart. I’m a care-giving person.

Rebecca: I’m just so grateful that people can call Visiting Angels and have somebody come into their home. I mean, that’s where they want…to be with family. And the family wants them, usually, to be able to stay in their home.

Regina: Visiting Angels is a great company to work for. They’re very caring, very knowledgeable. If you have any problems, you can come to them and they will give you all the information that you need for your clients. It’s just a great company to work for.

Kalinda: They’re great people, like, they’ve loved me since I started. They work with me, and I work with them.

John: At the best of times, it’s fun. At the worst of times, it’s even a little bit of an adventure.

Rebecca: This is the best job. You should try it. It works for me, so of course I’m going to tell other people it’s great!

All: We care every day in every way.
