Cataract Awareness Month

August is Cataract Awareness Month. Did you know that a leading cause of blindness worldwide is due to cataracts? However, thanks to technology and new procedures, most of us in the United States will not experience blindness due to cataracts. Cataracts aren’t a film over the eye, as it may seem, but a cataract does cloud the lens of the eye and gradually stops light from passing through. It’s best for adults over 65 to have their eyes checked every one to two years.
