In the News: Heavy Drinking’s Bad for the Memory in Men

A newly published British study has revealed a significant memory loss in middle-aged men who have more than 2 and a half drinks per day. The study showed that those men who drank heavily every day had about 6 years of decline in memory. That is, a 60-year-old heavy drinker has the memory of a 66-year-old. Moderate drinking–one drink per day for women and up to two for men–did not have the same effect, however. Moderate drinking or abstaining–in men–did not show a noticeable difference.
