Visiting Angels’ Veterans Program

Veterans bravely place their lives on the line every day to protect our freedoms. Now may be time for older veterans to claim their benefits. Over the past several years, Visiting Angels is proud to have helped hundreds of veterans in New Jersey receive home care benefits quickly and with no out-of-pocket expense.

There are two basic categories of veterans to which health care benefits may apply:

  • Those who suffered injuries while in service. These veterans can receive skilled medical benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through Veteran’s hospitals, etc.
  • Those who didn’t suffer injuries while in service, but who now need assistance with the activities of daily living, given their advanced years or non-service related illnesses or injuries. These veterans may qualify for non-medical care benefits from the VA through the “Aid & Attendance” program.

If you or your loved one served in the U.S. Armed Forces during wartime or is a widowed spouse of such veteran and has limited resources, he or she may qualify for our special Veterans Program.

Eligible Wartime Periods

The VA recognizes the following wartime periods to determine eligibility for Aid & Attendance benefits:

  • World War II (December 7, 1941–December 31, 1946)
  • Korean conflict (June 27, 1950–January 31, 1955)
  • Vietnam era (February 28, 1961–May 7, 1975 for Veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam during that period; otherwise August 5, 1964–May 7, 1975)
  • Gulf War (August 2, 1990 through a future date to be set by law or Presidential Proclamation)

Aid & Attendance Application

Completing the Aid & Attendance application with its many requirements can seem extremely daunting when going it alone. Once the forms and paperwork have been submitted to the VA, it can take on average a frustrating 6–9+ months to receive an approval due to the backlog of applications at the VA.

In contrast, our Veterans Program offers personalized step-by-step guidance. We will:

  • Assist in thoroughly and clearly explaining the Aid & Assistance program and procedures
  • Discuss your specific circumstances and guide you on how you may be eligible to satisfy all government qualification requirements
  • Start providing home care services shortly after the submission of your Aid & Attendance application—months before you learn whether or not you qualify

All this is provided to you with NO out-of-pocket expenses, thanks to our Company’s partnership with a leading Veterans Care company. Under this program, the cost of all home care hours you received during the VA’s waiting period will be processed as follows, depending on whether or not your application was approved and benefits granted:

  • If approved, all amounts due to Visiting Angels to-date and all future billings are paid directly from your monthly VA benefit with NO out-of-pocket expense to you
  • If denied, although Visiting Angels must discontinue care services, we will not charge you for any amounts due and/or owing for services already rendered, nor for paychecks already cashed by our home care employees.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the possibility of quickly receiving Visiting Angels’ exceptional care services at NO out-of-pocket expense to you,  call us at 609-883-8188.
